The Jazz Room in uptown is hosting the CD release party for the Mike Murley/Jim Vivian Quartet. Jim Vivian has been at the forefront of music making in Canada for over 25 years, with more than 25 recordings nominated for a Juno. Mike Murley is one of Canada’s most celebrated and well-respected jazz artists and has played on twelve Juno Award-winning recordings since 1990. Saturday, Jan. 27 from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm.

The Brush Off, KW's original live painting competition is back at THEMUSEUM for its 7th year. 21 artists will compete in four rounds - but only one painter will emerge as the victor. It's like The Hunger Games, but with painting and hopefully far less violence and teenage angst. Saturday, Jan. 27 starting at 7:30 pm.

Sunday, Jan. 28 - head down to TWB Brewing Co-op for The Tuba Machine - pumping jams from 2 to 4 pm.

The Iron Tonic Jazz Band has a jazz and swing dance workshop on Sunday, Jan. 28. Drop-In Swing Dance workshop is from 1:30 to 2:30 - $10 includes the social dance from 2:30 to 3:30 pm.
