What to do.
Carl Zehr Square becomes Discovery Square this Tuesday, July 31 from 5 to 8 PM. Bring your kids out for some awesome, interactive and hands-on STEAM activities.
Flock Social presents DTK Quest this Wednesday, August 1. It's a 90's team challenge for charity. Grab a group of friends, come up with a team name, and get ready to make your way around Downtown Kitchener completing a plethora of puzzles and tasks. (Do you even know what a plethora is? - Ed.) Proceeds from the event will support Send 'em Off Smiling, to help all kids in The Region go back to school with a new outfit, backpack, and school supplies. (I would have made this a SeaQuest themed challenge and called it SeaQuest DTK. Next year. - Ed.)
Jonathan Knight and Chris Latta play Rhapsody Barrel Bar on Thursday, August 2 starting at 8 PM.
Fo' Cheezy Food Truck and Big Jerk Menu will be onsite at Ambrosia Pastry Co. for Truckeatscooltreats this Thursday, August 2 from 4 to 7 PM.
Join the Waterloo Central Railway for their exciting train ride where they will be travelling with large quantities of gold from the bank in Elmira at 2:10pm sharp. (This seems like information they'd want to keep secret - Ed.) Prepare for some surprise excitement as you never know what will happen when carrying such expensive cargo. (Again, I don't think they should be promoting this. - Ed.) HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS and rest assured the conductor and crew will be ready to protect this very large sum of gold as necessary. (Is this a trap? If they're a cop, they have to tell you - Ed.) Two dates - Thursday, August 2 and Saturday, August 4.
The Princess Cinemas are screening two decades' worth of Ghibli film posters this summer! Join them as they present (once again!) some of the beautiful films of the amazing Hayao Miyazaki. Dates and titles here.
Join your Waterloo Public Library for a food-themed walking tour on Saturday, August 4. They're taking a historical look at the food scene in Uptown Waterloo. Their local history manager, Janet Seally, will lead the tour.
Your Kitchener Public Library has a free screening of "Call Me By Your Name" this Saturday, August 4 starting at 2 PM.
Coming up in September...
Here's a couple events coming up in September that we think you need to know about.

Hold The Line
September 8 | Fertile Ground Farm, St. Agatha
One of the best parts about living in Waterloo Region is being surrounded by beautiful countryside. Hold the Line is a small 'nonprofit-that-could' made up of artists, community builders, sustainability advocates and Waterloo Region enthusiasts that celebrates the farms, towns and natural spaces that make up our countryside and the walkable shops and restaurants that make our downtown cores exciting places to work and play.

Belmont Village Bestival
September 15 | Belmont Village, Kitchener
The Belmont Village Bestival is a one day festival bringing local artists to the Village to celebrate music and other artistic expressions in this beautiful gem within the City of Kitchener.
