What to do.
Want to know more about Grand River Transit and the ION LRT system? What better way to learn than straight from the GRT team at their Transit Talks: GRT's New Directions. No, we asked and Harry Styles won't be the voice of the ION's info system. (That joke doesn't work at all - Ed.) Wednesday, August 8 from 2:30 to 3:30 at Country Hills Library.
Get your day off with some downward dog. Wake Up With Jess this Wednesday, August 8 from 8 to 9 AM at Fearless Hearts Yoga on Regina in uptown Waterloo. Only $15 for the drop-in session.
Our new favourite Pixar movie (until the next one), COCO, is playing at Movies in the Park this Thursday, August 9 starting at dusk. It's presented by The City of Waterloo, Princess Cinemas and The Beat Goes On. Speaking of The Beat Goes On, check out this article about their new store in The Record. Didn't know that the store started right here in Waterloo Region.
Hell N Back, the ultimate Canadian AC/DC tribute is coming to rock Chainsaw for a double set on Saturday, August 11 starting at 9 PM.
There are two awesome roller derby bouts this Saturday, August 11 at Moses Springer Arena. First, catch the Venus Fly Tramps take on the Niagara Roller Girls in a first time match up. The second bout of the evening will have you on the edge of your seat, while you watch the Vicious Dishes line up against the Roller Derby Misfits from just down the 401 in Woodstock.
The folks over Waterloo Brewing are throwing their annual Summer Brewfest this Saturday, August 11 from 12 - 10 PM. There are two different sessions to attend; 12 to 4 or 6 to 10. $20 gets you five beer samples, limited edition swag (We need more branded koozies - Ed.) and a ticket to Oktoberfest at Bingemans. There will be food trucks, live music from The Hot Karls, axe throwing and Waterloo Brewing's first ever public tour of their new space (They missed out by not pulling a Willy Wonka here - Ed.).
Let's take this downtown - literally. Your favourite midtown beer bar is doing a pop-up at the lot next to 48 Ontario St (the old legion building) for three nights only. That's right folks - it's portable version of Arabella Park this Friday, August 10 to Sunday, August 12. Also, it's cash only - so find a ATM. No bitcoin.
Direct from New Orleans, join songwriting duo Duff Thompson & Carver Baronda for an afternoon of songs and craft beers at TWB Co-operative Brewing on Sunday, August 12. Music from 2 to 5 PM. Albums available for purchase. Beer is available for purchase too.
IT'S COMING RIGHT FOR US. Join people with wicked awesome telescopes at UW this Sunday, August 12 from 7:30 to 10:30 PM for a Perseid Meteor Shower Star Party.
Let's go to the mall! And do some yoga. Sunday, August 12 from 9:30 to 10:30, head to Conestoga Mall's Lululemon store for a free yoga class. (Sidenote - the mall is the original coworking space. Think about it. - Ed.)
