Enjoy the carnival-like atmosphere as you visit the midway, explore delicious foods and join us at the edge of our seats to watch spectacular world-class one-of-a-kind performers that are sure to amaze, excite and inspire! Confused about blockchain and cryptcurrency? So are we! THEMUSEUM hosts All About Blockchain and Cryptocurrency this Thursday, August 23 at 6 pm. The basics of the industry, explained – as a panel of blockchain professionals speak about the future of the technology. All-day tutorials are available for developers looking to hone their coding skills, followed by networking and an after-party. (Someone ask how decentralization of financial transactions impacts late stage capitalism. It'll sound impressive. - Ed.)
Join Communitech and local social media influencers on Thursday, August 23, to learn about creating an online brand and compete for a great prize! First you'll listen to Instagram influencers with thousands of followers to share their insights on how they build an online brand, then break for a drink and a snack (cash bar, free food) and then challenge participants to apply their learnings to create an online brand on the spot! Winners will receive great prizes including a $50 Amazon gift card and local goodies. (In my day, we called this a tweetup. Remember tweetups? -Ed.)

This weekend (August 25 and 26), LINK will host its annual picnic festival celebrating music, food, and fun for the local African and Caribbean community in Victoria Park.
LoFi Mind has a vinyl release party this Sunday, August 26 at The Registry Theatre. Two shows - 4pm and 7pm - $20 gets you in and they'll have albums available for purchase for $25.

Hold The Line

One of the best parts about living in Waterloo Region is being surrounded by beautiful countryside. Hold the Line is a small 'nonprofit-that-could' made up of artists, community builders, sustainability advocates and Waterloo Region enthusiasts that celebrates the farms, towns and natural spaces that make up our countryside and the walkable shops and restaurants that make our downtown cores exciting places to work and play.

Belmont Village Bestival
September 15 | Belmont Village, Kitchener
The Belmont Village Bestival is a one day festival bringing local artists to the Village to celebrate music and other artistic expressions in this beautiful gem within the City of Kitchener. Head down and check out their European style street festival held in the heart of Midtown. There will be a wide variety of musicians, dancers, children’s entertainers, visual artists and more with performance venues at Belmont's restaurants, cafes and outdoor patios.

LUMEN
September 29 | Uptown Waterloo
Lumen is a festival that showcases light based new media, media art, and projection based installations. This free event invites citizens to explore the city through a new lens -- one that illuminates Waterloo through art and technology. Lumen will take place in uptown Waterloo on September 29, 2018 from 6 - 11p.m. More details to be announced shortly.
