On Wednesday, September 5, the Apollo Cinema has a tribute to the iconic Aretha Franklin. They'll be playing The Blues Brothers at 6:30PM alongside Hope Spring KW who are an independent community organization committed to empowering those whose lives are impacted by cancer to improve their emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. $5 donation will all proceeds going to Hope Spring. (The Blues Brothers? They still owe you money, fool. - Ed.)
Join the good folks from Runner's Choice for a community run this Wednesday, September 5 at 6 PM celebrating all things local and try out a Saucony shoe while you're at it. Afterwards, they'll head to Abe Erb for a celebratory pint (first 50 attendees at Abe Erb get a beer). There will be special gifts with purchase including tote bags and a free one-month premium Strava membership. (I only run to burn off the beer. - Ed.)
Maxwell's Concerts & Events & 107.5 Dave Rocks proudly present Idioteque - Canada's Finest Radiohead Tribute and Supersonic - North America's Tribute to Oasis this Friday September 7. Doors open at 7:30 PM, music starts at 8 PM.
Friday, September 7 in downtown Kitchener is the Luna Market. It's a Kitchener-Waterloo Night Market focused on supporting indie designers, eco-friendly holistic living and alternative healing.
CAFKA and Open Sesame present a reception for Mélika Hashemi this Friday, September 7 at 6 PM. She'll be speaking about her project "Ma'jooj at Charles Street Terminal", her Lèche Vitrine Project Window at Open Sesame and other works from her series #FleeingTheFolio. Hashemi inserts characters from Persian miniatures into her photographs of sites in KW and the GTA, so that they "feel foreign in their new context: an experience lived daily by displaced persons."
The Suzie McNeil Band plays Rhapsody Barrel Bar this Saturday, September 8 at 9:30 PM.
This weekend is Welly Cask Fest is Guelph! Explore the adventurous, unfiltered world of cask beer with the good folks at Wellington Brewery. The festival will feature 25+ cask beers and ciders at each session including unique one-off creations, guest features from celebrated brewers across Ontario, and one-of-a-kind collaborations. The weekend will also feature delicious food from the region's best food trucks, pop-up food vendors, live music, brewery tours, vintage arcade, axe throwing, and more. It all goes down Friday, September 7 and Saturday, September 8 at Wellington Brewery in Guelph, Ontario with three individually ticketed sessions. (I'm here for the cider. - Ed.)
Also this weekend, get your end of summer rib and craft beer fill at the Waterloo Rib & Craft Beer Fest this Friday, September 7 to Sunday, September 9 in off Father David Bauer Drive in Waterloo.
The Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery has its next Family Sunday this Sunday, September 9 from 1-4 PM. Gather family and friends alike to visit the Gallery for a Sunday afternoon featuring new, interactive art experiences and hands-on art activities inspired by their current exhibitions. Hold The Line

Hold the Line is a small 'nonprofit-that-could' made up of artists, community builders, sustainability advocates and Waterloo Region enthusiasts that celebrates the farms, towns and natural spaces that make up our countryside and the walkable shops and restaurants that make our downtown cores exciting places to work and play.

Belmont Village Bestival
September 15 | Belmont Village, Kitchener
The Belmont Village Bestival is a one day festival bringing local artists to the Village to celebrate music and other artistic expressions in this beautiful gem within the City of Kitchener. Head down and check out their European style street festival held in the heart of Midtown. There will be a wide variety of musicians, dancers, children’s entertainers, visual artists and more with performance venues at Belmont's restaurants, cafes and outdoor patios.

LUMEN
September 29 | Uptown Waterloo
Lumen is a festival that showcases light based new media, media art, and projection based installations. This free event invites citizens to explore the city through a new lens -- one that illuminates Waterloo through art and technology. Lumen will take place in uptown Waterloo on September 29, 2018 from 6 - 11p.m. More details to be announced shortly.
