Need a break from holiday shopping? Descendants Beer & Beverage have a full slate of events to recharge your holiday spirit. Monday is their burger and beer for $10 special. Tuesday is "The Room" trivia at 8 PM. (You're tearing me apart Lisa! -Ed.) Wednesday is trivial dispute starting at 7 PM. Thursday's music bingo's theme is songs about alcohol and then on Saturday, they welcome JoJo Worthington for a matinee performance from 2 to 5 PM.

Patent Social Club presents Alice's Big Queer Comedy Show #7 this Thursday, Dec. 13 from 8 to 10 PM. This is Waterloo Region's newest LGBTQ+ stand-up comedy showcase - highlighting a selection of queer-identifying and allied comedians.

actOUT's 2018-2019 season starts with a production of Les Misérables School Edition. actOut features performers ages 10-17 from Baden, Cambridge, Elora, Kitchener and Waterloo under the direction of actOUT!’s Artistic Director Todd Vercoe with Olga Denisova returning to actOUT! as Music Director. Shows this Thursday, Dec. 13, Friday, Dec. 14 and Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Registry Theatre. (Please say they incorporate "let's get this bread" into this production. -Ed.)

Rhapsody Barrel Bar has two shows this Saturday, Dec. 15. First, catch the Wright Stripes from 2 to 5 PM. Then at 9:30, it's Beggars Banquet.

Kitchener Public Library has a free showing of the classic "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 2 PM. (You surprised to see us Clark? -Ed)

Coming up later in December....Green Light Arts presents "A Very Leila Christmas". The award-winning, lovable, and effervescent artist Leila in her hit show about the adventures of her first Christmas in Canada.
Leila has recently immigrated to Canada from Tehran, Iran and has her first job: as a customer service rep in a call centre during the holiday season. This inspires her to learn what this “Christmas-thing Canadians seem to love so much” is all about. To impress a co-worker she promises to throw the ultimate Christmas party – things get out of hand - and hilarity ensues.

Lisboa Bakery & Grill is a Portuguese restaurant located in Williamsburg out in Kitchener at Westmount and Fischer-Hallman. Immediately after walking through those doors, you will smell the succulent Portuguese chicken on the grill and the sweet buttery egg tarts piled on display. They have a large menu to satisfy everyone but if you’re at Lisboa, you have to try their Charcoal BBQ Grilled Portuguese Chicken, Grilled Piri Piri Shrimp, and Pasteis De Nata (custard egg tart). They have a wonderful patio with couches to lounge on over the summer. Lisboa is also incredible for catering work lunches and parties. They are one of the few places in town that serves up a whole suckling pig (Leitao), roasted rabbit and lamb if you are planning on throwing a party.
