Since opening its doors in 2015, Bao Sandwich Bar has become a Kitchener-Waterloo staple and foodie landmark. Bao Sandwich Bar serves up an Asian fusion cuisine of Vietnamese “banh mi”, Taiwanese street food buns “gua bao”, and Korean inspired kimchi fries. You choose your filling then choose what you’d like to eat it in: a French baguette or a steamed bao bun. If you get it in a bao, I would recommend getting two as they’re much smaller than their baguette counterparts. For sides, you can’t go wrong with their Seoul Kimchi Fries, Fried Ice Cream Bao, and Thai Tea to clean your palate at the end of the satisfying meal. The hardest part, besides deciding what to get, is finding the place. The address uses Balsam Street, behind Wilfrid Laurier University’s new Lazaridis School of Business and Economics, but the entrance is off Larch Street and in the residential complex but slightly underground.
Bao Sandwich Bar also caters and have served parties and events of any size. Most notoriously, Bao have fed more than 1,000 hungry students for Canada’s biggest hackathon, Hack the North.

We're excited to bring you restaurant reviews from KWFOMO. Followm them on Instagram for more awesome places to eat and drink in Waterloo Region.
