Pho Dau Bo in Downtown Kitchener is one of the best places to cozy up to a large bowl of Vietnamese beef noodle soup, or phở. Parking is a little tough, especially on Saturdays as the entrance is downstairs in a plaza across the street from the Kitchener Market. Pho Dau Bo is part of a chain of restaurants with locations across Ontario including Toronto, Niagara and Hamilton. For under $10, you can devour a massive bowl of vermicelli rice noodles, thinly sliced meats, meatballs, tendons, tripe, and beef broth. If Vietnamese food doesn’t strike your fancy, Pho Dau Bo also serves Thai rice, vegetarian, and noodle dishes. They also have an impressive milkshake menu where you can order pennywort leaves, jackfruit, durian, or an interesting concoction of soda whipped with condensed milk & egg yolk. Typical of Vietnamese restaurants, Pho Dau Bo is easy on the wallet, generous with portions, and pleasing to the palate. (photo by @veeni05)
