Side note.
Matthew McCarthy's photography is brilliant - and it turns out he's not too shabby with a keyboard either. His story on how synchronized swimming has helped two girls form a unique bond is a must-read.
Another feel-good story - ‘Canada is a dreamland’: Syrian refugee thrilled to start job at Kitchener high-tech firm.
This is not the kind of Danger Zone that Kenny Logins was singing out. (Maybe if we painted Ezra Ave green like bike lanes, people would stop going because drivers would speed down it. -Ed.)
For years, people have had to choose between going to the Community Edition's Steel Rails or going to Taco Fest (in support of Community Connections Meals on Wheels). But not this year as the stars have aligned and they're scheduled on different evenings.
If you judge a party by the number of charges and arrests, then Ezra Ave was a success this year with 514 charges and 18 arrests. Oh wait, that's not how we judge a party.
If you look in a mirror in Cambridge and say "amalgamation" three times, the ghost of John Galt will appear and suggest a location for the sports multiplex.
FOMO.

Queen Street Commons is a cafe, gathering and event space, non-profit, and the heart of Downtown Kitchener. The vegan and vegetarian menu uses produce from their community market garden and is prepared by volunteers looking to develop work experience. Their home-style meals, snacks, drinks, and desserts are affordable, catering to the wide range of patrons from low-income families with young children to people in the tech industry and community activists. The second floor of the cafe is used as affordable apartments for low-income residents. Every Saturday, Queen Street Commons hosts the Community Market Day for local exchange where people can barter goods and services. A Speak English Cafe is one of the countless events held at Queen Street Commons, helping Syrian refugees enter the workforce by pairing them with a volunteer and job coach. Queen Street Commons is the best place to grab heart-warming meals for under $10, volunteer with the community, and attend a cozy event watching a movie or open mic performance.
