What to do.

This week is True North Waterloo and there are over 50 free events to check out during the Festival part of the conference. You don't need a badge to go to any of these events - they're just a way of showing off the awesome variety of dining, drinking, arts and culture activities we have here in Waterloo Region. The meeting point for all things True North Festival is the Lokal at The Walper Hotel. It'll be open to everyone on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - so come down and enjoy company with old friends - and make some new ones. (The TL;WR crew will be there Thursday night. -Ed.)

F**ckup Nights Kitchener-Waterloo Volume III is Tuesday night at Communitech. Kitchener isn't the only place with lames to tame. Head uptown for the Uptown Funk Laneway Party - visit Dominion Lane (behind Taco Farm/loop clothing/Nick & Nat’s Uptown 21/Settlement Co.) for a variety of activities, including The Crumby Cookie Dough Co, DJ Del Fine, beverages provided by Settlement Co and more!

The big event Wednesday evening is the Campfire Music Festival presented by the City of Waterloo! Bring a blanket or your favourite hoodie. Gather around the campfire with friends and neighbours for music, food, fire and more. Featuring musical performances by: Great Lake Swimmers, Safe As Houses & Bird City. Also featuring the Four All Ice Cream stand & the UW Student Art Innovation Lab (SAIL).

The True North Kick Off Party is over at Starlight Social Club starting at 9. Kick off True North with a night of top notch DJ's and performers.

The big event Thursday night is the DTK Music Festival - a free concert headlined by Canadian DJ Frank Walker. The concert also features the rock duo Crown Lands and DJ Leanne Rhymes

Finally, wrap up the True North Festival in style at Midtown's best club - District for the True North Wrap Up Party. The ATB DJ's are providing the soundtrack to the evening. Get social on the Lounge side featuring party games, couches and a full service bar.

This event is gathering people from as far as Windsor and the GTA to Waterloo with the intent to network, learn about state-of-the-art biotechnology and find meaningful career paths that match their lifestyle goals.

Foxnet presents their Nashville Charity Night in support of Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region and the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region. Food from Lancaster Smokehouse and beverages from Muskoka Brewery - plus some awesome music.

Head on over to Duke Street in midtown for the Duke Street West Music Fest from 2-5 PM. They have awesome live music - bring chairs unless you're going to be doing your two-step.

The Street Art edition of Open Streets Waterloo is this Saturday noon till 5 pm. They'll be closing down Willis Way June 22 from noon to 5 p.m. for their Street Art Open Streets. Or head down to the Waterloo Skate Park for the unveiling of the city's new Action Sports Parks with Mayor Jaworsky and skateboard lessons from Evolve.

Jazz After Dark at The Social in Downtown Kitchener has the Attila Fias Trio - Attila Fias (piano), Paco Luviano (bass), Rich Brisco (drums). He's an award-winning pianist blurs the boundaries of jazz and world music from Brazil, Hungary, India and more.
