Join your Kitchener Public Library for 85 Queen: Out of My Skull: The Psychology of Boredom - Book Launch and Discussion from 7 to 8 pm. Psychologists James Danckert and John Eastwood contend that boredom isn’t bad for us. It’s just that we do a bad job of heeding its guidance. Out of My Skull combines scientific findings with everyday observations to explain an experience we’d like to ignore, but from which we have a lot to learn. (As I tell my kids every day, boredom is a gift. -Ed.)

Your Kitchener Public Library and the African Caribbean Black Network of Waterloo Region host An Evening With Desmond Cole. Cole is an award-winning journalist, radio host, and activist in Toronto. His writing has appeared in the Toronto Star, Toronto Life, The Walrus, NOW Magazine, Ethnic Aisle, Torontoist, BuzzFeed, and the Ottawa Citizen. He hosts a weekly radio program every Sunday on Newstalk 1010.

LAUNCH Waterloo has a series of week-long STEAM camps to keep your kids engaged in science, technology, engineering, art and math all summer long. They've just added a new camp "Let's Make Music" running August 4-7. Check out their site for full details. Bursaries are available for students requiring additional financial assistance.
