Eating and drinking and working.

During my walk back from Goodvibes Juice last week, I noticed the windows in the former GoGo Mart were plastered with something new. Unity Baking is coming this September. No word yet on what their specialities will be - but if they could throw in a gluten free bagel, that would be awesome.
If you're interested into real estate gossip like I am, then you should be reading WR Connected. I was taking a peek earlier and came across this post on the redevelopment of the King's Crossing plaza across from the new Google office.
Speaking of real estate, Toronto developer and reality TV host Scott McGillivray is a partner in the new development on Walter St next to King Edward Public School. Aptly named "The Walter Midtown", the building will have a selection of studio, one and two-bedroom units.
We did it, we made midtown happen.
What to do.
There's some great events this week, so choose wisely.
This Tuesday is the last of Downtown Kitchener's Discovery Square events. I made a popsicle stick boat and ran it down Tinker Truck's raging river last week. Grab your kids or ask to borrow your neighbours (they'll thank you) and head downtown.

On Wednesday, Shopify Plus (your local Shopify team) and Ladies Learning Code present Debugging the Gender Gap. Hosted at the Shopify Plus office (57 Erb St W, Waterloo), the night features a screening of the documentary CODE, followed by a panel discussion with local women in tech from the KW region. The CODE documentary exposes the dearth of American female and minority software engineers and explores the reasons for this gender gap. Doors open at 5:30pm, food and drinks will be served. Opening remarks begin at 6:30pm.
It's a Generation X vs. Millennial throw down on Thursday when the Apollo Cinema screens Heathers (1998) and Mean Girls (2004). The films are part of Versus Week - running July 22 to 28. Call me biased, but Heathers just speaks to me.

In Uptown this Thursday is Thursday Nights UpTown - which is kind of a palindrome. Four spots for live music await you - featuring the Gary Cain Band, Loretta Fullerton, Jack Pender, and the Andriy Tykhonov Trio. Who knows, maybe they'll find another mysterious cavern under LRT construction while you're there.
If music or 1980's Wynona Ryder movies aren't your thing - the good folks at Descendants Beer and Beverage Co (319 Victoria St N, Kitchener) have Rusty Nail Comedy featuring Patrick Hakeem and Patrick Burtscher. Doors open at 8:30pm.
