Eating and drinking and working.
I had a chance to have coffee with Nik Harron late last week to talk with him about the Art District Gallery's search for new permanent digs. I'll have a longer story on the blog later this week. They're holding a reception this Thursday, August 1 from 5 to 7 in the Berlin Tower at City Hall (200 King St W, Kitchener). This will be a great event to meet some of the people who make, curate, and promote art and artists in our community.
What to do.

This week is all about the blues. The 2016 Kitchener Blues Festival kicks off on Thursday, August 4 with a night featuring Eric Burdon and The Animals, Foghat, Eric & the Agitators. The festival runs Thursday, August 4 to Sunday, August 7. I'm planning on checking out the Gospel Blues Pancake breakfast on Sunday.
The Dog Haus is hosting another of there Dog Days of Summer events with a free movie in Civic Centre Park (between Centre In the Square and the Kitchener Public Library). The nights kicks off at 8pm with a walk to tire out the dogs and the movie to follow at sun down. Bring a blanket or chair and snacks (people and dog snacks). Bring blankets, chairs to make yourselves comfortable along with any snacks and drinks for the movie.
Thursday Night UpTown brings The Rocker Villes, Tim Moher Jazz, Woolwich Project, and Rufus John to the streets of Uptown. Visit their site for where to be - music starts at 5.
The best way to cool down after a run is with a cold beer. Or at least that's what I tell myself. Thankfully, I've found out that I'm not alone. This Saturday is the Waterloo Region Craft Beer Run at Bingemans. It's a 3k race with craft beer themed obstacles and a cold pint at the finish line. Registration is open now.
