Waterloo Public Library, in partnership with Words Worth Books, presents A Discussion with Bob Burtt. He is a reporter and editor for more than 40 years, including a 24 year stint at the Waterloo Region Record where he focused on environmental stories. Burtt will be in conversation with Susan Bryant, discussing his new book, Water Our Sacred Trust: a story about Waterloo Region's most important resource and the challenges it faces.
Join Kitchener Public Library for a screening of I am not Your Negro in the Theatre of the Central Library. The screening is part of their Black History Month film screening series. Master documentary filmmaker Raoul Peck envisions the book James Baldwin never finished. The result is a radical, up-to-the-minute examination of race in America, using Baldwins original words and a flood of rich archival material. A journey into black history that connects the past of the Civil Rights movement to the present of #BlackLivesMatter. Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m.

Green Light Arts Theatre presents Our Fathers, Sons, Lovers And Little Brothers. The play is a co-production from Tarragon Theatre and Black Theatre Workshop and tells the story of Slimm, a seventeen-year-old Black boy in a hoodie who suddenly finds himself in the first moments of his afterlife. He calls out for God. God does not respond. What happens next is a sacred journey through the unknown as Slimm grapples with the truth of his life and the death he didn't choose.

Kitchener Public Library, in partnership with the Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies, University of Waterloo, presents a Latin American Film Festival screening of Nudo Mixteco at 7 p.m. Taking place in a rural Mixtec village in Oaxaca, southern Mexico, Nudo Mixteco follows the return of María, Esteban, and Toña, each from a different direction. Each of them has a different reason for coming back, just like each had a different reason to leave in the first place. However, all three face a confrontation that will force a turning point in their lives.

Grand River Opera presents Puccini’s Suor Angelica on Friday, March 3, 4, & 5. This is the company’s inaugural production and one of the only standard repertoire shows to feature an all-women cast. The cast includes 20 local professional singers and voice teachers, recent graduates of music programs, current students, and some adult amateurs. The opera will be presented March 3, 4, and 5 at First United Church, Waterloo. It will be accompanied by Susan Black at the piano, and Kathleen King Martin at the organ.
