“Tea and Tales with Muslim Women” at Waterloo Public Library is an interactive and educational travelling show that employs art, entertainment, and dialogue to build bridges of understanding between Muslim women and the larger community. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m.

Laurier EdTalks and Waterloo Public Library present Fostering Belonging and Wellbeing among 2SLGBTQ+ Students at 7:30 p.m. Join Michael Woodford and community partner involved in Laurier’s Thriving on Campus research team to discuss how to foster belonging and wellbeing among 2SLGBTQ+ students.

Tech N9ne plays Maxwell’s with very special guests King Iso and Robbie G starting at 7 p.m.

Over at the Princess Cinema, check out Sex, Horror And The Religious Imagination: Book Launch and Screening Of Carrie at 6:45 p.m. Join Thom Ernst, former host of TVO’s Saturday Night at the Movies, and Professor Doug Cowan, as they explore how religious taboos are portrayed and reinforced through horror film tropes.

Back to back events at KPL with 85 Queen: An Evening with Fredrik Backman at 7 p.m. Author Fredrik Backman returns to Kitchener Public Library to discuss his latest novel, The Winners.

BeccaHosts Entertainment and Descendants Beer & Beverage Co. have Mixed Tape Music Bingo at 8 p.m.

This year’s KW Oktoberfest starts with the Official Keg Tapping at Carl Zehr Square at noon!

The City of Kitchener’s Grillefest features Kitchener councillors and city staff serving traditional sausage on a bun with all proceeds going to support the Food Bank of Waterloo Region. Friday, Oct. 7 from 11 – 2 p.m.

Willibald’s Farmtoberfest runs Oct. 7 and 8. There are three sessions to choose from that feature different breweries in addition to all your favourite Willibald offerings.

TWB Brewing Co-Op has the Midtown Radio Beer Release party featuring very special guests—I, The Mountain. Check out some special beer release, seasonal beers and a can bar featuring some of your favourite Ontario breweries, distilleries and cideries! Friday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.

BeccaHosts Entertainment has Country Music Bingo at Rural Roots at 7 p.m.

The Apollo’s Apolloween brings you The Slumber Party Massacre – 40th Anniversary at 9:30 p.m.

Saturday, October 8

tri-Pride and SPECTRUM are partnering on PRIDEtoberfest at THEMUSEUM. We're bringing some Drag Race royalty to the community: Icesis Couture, Jaida Essence Hall, and Jorgeous. They will perform alongside drag performers from Kitchener, Hamilton, and Guelph to create an awesome show that will be followed by a dance. Tickets are $45 each and the proceeds will support both tri-Pride and SPECTRUM.

Sunday, October 9

The Long Weekend Punk Band Crawl Vol. 3 with The Rotten, Badlook, Elvis Punkley takes over Dive Bar, Prohibition Warehouse, and the Pin-Up Arcade Bar this Sunday, Oct. 9.

Have a relax on Sunday with a screening of Saw at The Apollo at 9:30 p.m.

Monday, October 10

The annual Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade is BACK for 2022! The parade starts at 8:30 a.m. at the corner of Weber Street East and Frederick Street and travels up Weber Street to end at the Bridgeport Plaza at the corner of Weber and Bridgeport around 10:00 a.m. The Onkel Hans Food Drive will be collecting monetary donations and non-perishable food items in support of the Food Bank of Waterloo Region right before the parade begins, or donate online here!

Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region’s Big House Party is back in person this year! Join them on Oct. 27 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Farm League Brewing for a fun night of drinks, activities, live music by FireTrain and delicious food provided by Schmuck Truck and The Funnelcloud. This fundraising event directly supports Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region’s mission to build safe and affordable homes for families in our community, such as the homes they are building in Cambridge in 2023.

Friend of the newsletter Jaime Steif operates a weekly drop-off of water and snacks at the Weber + Victoria site and is looking for sponsors if anyone is interested in donating in a one-time or ongoing capacity (anything helps!). She is also helping residents coordinate donations of sleeping bags, tents, blankets and cold-weather gear—all items specifically requested by organizers at both the Weber + Victoria and Willow River Park camps. Reach out to help out.
