The City of Waterloo is celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day on Tuesday, June 21 with an original art piece on the surface of Waterloo Public Square as a visual reminder of the territory and land on which our city was founded. This day recognizes the cultures and contributions of the First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples of Canada. The Great Ontario Beer Festival is this Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25 at Bingemans. Tickets are 30% and a portion of the proceeds go to support Food4Kids Waterloo Region.
The Lab Street Eats Food Truck will be at TWB Brewing for their Summer Music Series from 7 – 9 p.m.
The Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging has their Seniors Month Showcase features engaging information booths from the Supporting Inclusion through Intergenerational Partnerships projects and other opportunities for older adults living with dementia. Find out how you can get involved in these programs in the Region of Waterloo. Friday, June 24 from 1 – 4 p.m. at the Waterloo Memorial Rec Centre.

Short Finger and The Yeti made a beer called Betty and they’re celebrating with a Golden Girls Parade. Dress up like your favourite Golden Girl and meet at Short Finger Brewing Company at 7 p.m. followed by a Golden Girls Parade along King Street to The Yeti for an 80s dance party.
Help support kids in need and get your car washed at the same time. Food4Kids Waterloo Region’s Summer Charity Car Wash is happening at the Kitchener Fire Headquarters (270 Strasburg Rd.) from 10 – 1 p.m.
The Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Festival returns to Victoria Park for two days of celebrations, music, and food. Many kids will enjoy a summer vacation filled with fresh, delicious foods and fun activities. But, there are other children in your community who don’t get enough to eat, particularly during the months when school lunch programs take a break.
The Food Bank of Waterloo Region also sees a significant reduction in donations during the summer months. That means the Food Bank of Waterloo Region need your help to keep the shelves stocked for hungry children this July and August.
