June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day and the City of Waterloo has been marking this occasion for the past six years by partnering with artist Luke Swinson, who creates and installs an original art piece on the surface of the Waterloo Public Square. The 56th annual KW Multicultural Festival comes to Victoria Park on June 24 and 25. When it comes to festivals in the park, there are festivals—and then there’s The KW Multicultural Festival. It is the Highland Halal of festivals. It is the Morty’s wings of festivals. It’s Bangkok Cuisine of festivals. It is the nachos at Ethel’s of festivals. What we’re trying to convey is that it is the best festival in town and you should definitely go. Don’t forget about the ION light rail transit and Grand River Transit weekend family day pass. The $8 pass offers unlimited travel for a family (1-2 adults and up to 4 children, 17 years or younger) on Saturdays, Sundays, and any statutory holiday.
