Currently based in North West River, NL, Gauthier is an accomplished Inuit and Métis artist and activist whose work often depicts traditional Inuit practices, cosmologies, spirituality and personal memories. The KW Santa Claus Parade is back! Running along Weber Street, from Frederick to Erb. Bring your letters to Santa for Canada Post to deliver, donate to the Food Bank of Waterloo, and help your local Firefighters collecting for the Knights of Columbus’ Toy Drive. Parade starts at 10 a.m.
Even better, get a 3k in before the parade with RunWaterloo’s Santa Pur-suit!
Speaking of Santa, skip the mall lineup and head to the St. Jacob’s Farmers Market for Storytime with Santa.
SPECTRUM is hosting the book launch for Transitive by Katrina Stephany. Katrina will be reading from her new poetry book, Transitive, and chatting about remembrance and resilience. Books will be available for sale and Katrina will do a signing. 2–4 p.m.
Walk with Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region 2022 for Voices Empower: Walk to Break the Silence in recognition of Woman Abuse Prevention Month. Join them on Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. as they walk roundtrip from Uptown Square, Waterloo to Carl Zehr Town Square, Kitchener. This 6km walk is a time to reflect on the woman who is killed every six days by an intimate partner. They encourage you to get a team together, wear your best purple outfit, and walk to show your support for women and children experiencing domestic violence.

Green Light Arts presents “This is How We Got Here” at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts. Keith Barker’s This Is How We Got Here shows a close-knit family working through the process of loss and grief. Simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming, the play moves back and forth in time, allowing audiences to piece together the fragments of these characters’ lives as they reconnect with one another through forgiveness, love, and hope. Shortlisted for the 2018 Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama, nominated for the 2020 Carol Bolt Award, and winner of the 2020 Dora award for Outstanding New Play.
