Waterloo Region Small Business Centre x LiftOff present SDGtalks Reduced Inequalities at Kitchener City Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. This event seeks to highlight Black entrepreneurs within the region, and the main staple of the event is a panel discussion where a combination of community members and organizations will be speaking about their experience and expertise with SDG 10.

Vintage Black Canada is a multidisciplinary archive and creative initiative documenting the transnational modern history of the African Diaspora in Canada , centered on archiving the visual and oral history of Black diaspora families and all they have richly contributed to Canada’s cultural milieu, often with specific reference to KW. The opening night celebration Vintage Black Canada Pop-Up @ King MacKay Gallery (33 Kent Ave.) is Feb. 23 from 6pm - 9pm with a special acoustic performance from Juno award-winning musician Erroll Starr at 7pm.

Community Justice Initiatives and Roots to Rise present IGNITE: The Future is Youth Summit at Bingemens. It’s a free youth-driven, two-day summit,featuring artists, storytellers and more! In an effort to remove barriers to access for youth from around the Region, private buses have been booked for both days of the summit to bring registered youth from designated landmarks to the Summit and back. Ways to support local.
Supportive Housing of Waterloo (SHOW) is raising funds with a 5km walk as part of the national Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser on February 25. All the funds raised will go towards providing affordable housing options and supports to marginalized members of our community. All you need to do is register a team online and invite friends, family, and co-workers to register for that team. You can register your team here. After that, all that’s left for you to do is to connect with your network and ask them to sponsor you while you and your team walk in support of SHOW and the work that they do with marginalized members of our community.
