MT Space’s IMPACT 21 presents Fuego Rojo in Victoria Park at 8 p.m - “A funeral is transformed into a pagan celebration, a coffin becomes a portal which brings forth the voices of Atahualpa and Jemanya, and the rituals of the Yawar and shrines to the dead are put on display in this rustic opera. Physical theater and contemporary circus mix and meld, breathing life into a series of dreamlike landscapes through the use of object manipulation, poetic imagery, and live music.”

Celebrate Islamic Heritage Month with Waterloo Public Library and the Coalition of Muslim Women with an author event with Uzma Jalaluddin. Best-selling Canadian author Uzma Jalaluddin talks about her latest book, Hana Khan Carries On. This Muslim edit of "You’ve Got Mail" has recently been optioned by Amazon Studios to be produced into a feature film by none other than Mindy Kaling. This sparkling rom-com set in Toronto is about two competing Halal restaurants.

MT Space’s IMPACT 21 presents Mobs at Waterloo City Hall at 8 p.m. - “Winner of the title prize at the inaugural International Ezzeddine Gannoun Festival for Theatre in Tunis. Following a national uprising that led to the dismantling of one system and the establishment of another in Tunisia, Mobs (or Exercises in Citizenship) analyzes the friction between honouring and respecting homeland and participating in society as an upstanding citizen.”

This November, join Women’s Crisis Services in Voices Empower: Walk to Break the Silence. This self-directed 6 km walk will take place on Saturday, Nov. 20. Get a team together, wear your best purple outfit, and walk to show your support for women and children experiencing domestic violence.

The Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation is committed to using their resources to advance racial equity in our community.
