Join the Downtown Kitchener Neighbourhood Association on April 20, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom to learn all about Community Fridge KW, how the project is making a difference for people downtown, and how you can support. This is a public event but registration is required.
Waterloo Public Library presents the Renison Lecture and Book Launch of Finding Refuge in Canada: Narratives of Dislocation at 7 p.m. Finding Refuge in Canada: Narratives of Dislocation (AUP, 2021) is a collection of personal narratives about the refugee experience in Canada. It includes critical perspectives from authors from diverse backgrounds, including refugees, advocates, front-line workers, private sponsors, and civil servants. The evening will be hosted by CBC Toronto radio host, Ismaila Alfa.

Join rare’s Planning Ecologist, Dr. Tom Woodcock for the third Conversation for Conservation to learn about problems faced by honey bees and beekeepers under modern agriculture. The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony joins forces with Indigenous artist, musician, and creator iskwç for an online concert as part of the 2020/21 Reimagined: KWS Goes Online season, streaming Friday, April 23 to Sunday, April 25. This ground-breaking and powerful collaboration led by Music Director Andrei Feher features music from her award-winning album, acâkosîk, and previous acclaimed releases. Over half of the songs on the concert are being heard for the very first time with orchestra.

Waterloo Public Library, in partnership with the Waterloo Horticultural Society and the Pollinator Working Group - City of Waterloo present The Beekeepers: How Humans Changed the World of Bumble Bees at 2 p.m. Dana L. Church is a local author of the book The Beekeepers: How Humans Changed the World of Bumble Bees. Dana will be be visiting to talk about her book and the important role bees play in our eco-system. Following her talk, families can take part in some great pollinator activities including plants, crafts and more.
Join the City of Kitchener and TWB Co-operative Brewing for a virtual cooking class on Saturday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. In this two hour interactive virtual cooking class, you will learn how to make albondigas caseras (Spanish Meatball), roasted garlic mashed potato, roasted shallot and green beans with almonds, and sangria.
The Culinary Studio has a virtual deep dive into pizza (we see what you did there) on Saturday, April 24 at 11 a.m. Chef Julia Mitchell will guide you step-by-step through all of the recipes, answering all of your pizza questions, from types of doughs, pizza styles and various cooking methods.
