But due to the stigma and shame associated with menstruation and the lack of knowledge and education around what constitutes a “normal” period, many sufferers never seek help or, if they do, find their concerns dismissed. The third annual Femme Folks Fest opens this week and runs March 8 – 20. Start off the festival with a special International Women’s Day event with the COVERT Collective with a parade of Femme created Visual Art Projections lighting up Uptown Waterloo. Show begins at dusk and ends at 10PM.
The Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery’s annual exhibition of student artwork from across Waterloo Region has returned to the Main Gallery following two years of digital exhibitions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Expressions 47: Look Up is now on view at KWAG until May 15, featuring the works of over fifty student artists from across Waterloo Region.

On Thursday, March 10 at 7 p.m., Femme Folks Fest has local artist Alysha Brilla leading a conversation on the intersection of Technology and Spirituality with a focus on Canadian contemporary music production.
Green Light Arts is sponsoring an incredible new reading of Bags: by Anne V. McGravie as part of the Irish Real Life Festival. This staged reading explores the Irish Real Life Festival's 2022 themes of reconciliation and peacemaking. Readings on March 10, 11, and 12 at 7 p.m.
Descendants Beer & Beverage has Musical Bingo: Colours of the Rainbow with BeccaHosts at 8 p.m.

Thirty and flirty and thriving! Come join the Apollo Cinema for an interactive screening of 30 Going On 30 at 7 p.m.
Music Bingo starts at 7:30 p.m. at Rural Roots Brewery. The playlist is comprised of Drinking Songs - songs that mention alcohol or just remind you of being in a pub.
The Femme Folks Fests’ Food Truck Rodeo and POP-UP performances happen on Caroline and Erb Streets, Uptown Waterloo from dusk till 10 p.m.

The second annual St. Paw-Tricks Day Virtual Beer Tasting event supporting the KW Humane Society happens at 7 p.m. They’ve joined paws with some local breweries to bring you another fun St. Patrick's Day themed beer-tasting event!
Femme Folks Fest has Slipstream by Lindsay Bellaire. Using a combination of aerial arts, music, sound, lighting, and projections, Slipstream is about finding a place of calm in the face of emotional turbulence. Inspired by the practice of meditation, this piece will bring these elements together to create an experience that calms the nervous system and provides the audience with an opportunity to step out of the stream of racing thoughts and heavy feelings to find a more passive, blissful space from which to witness them.
Join the Irish Real Life Festival for a night of dancing and live music by The O'Deadly's and the Grand River Ceili Band plus friends! Enjoy some traditional Irish dancing by Kaleidoscope Studio. Kitchener Market at 8 p.m.

Femme Folks Fest presents Room For Improvisation by Racquel Rowe. The project consists of a performance where Rowe will attempt to create traditional Barbadian dishes with the virtual guidance of her mother/grandmothers helping along and then a live class over zoom where she will then teach the recipe to participants.
The Underground Flavour Group has buck-a-shuck oysters from 5 – 10 p.m.

Waterloo Public Library presents Tanya's Secret with Opéra Queens. Opéra Queens presents opera in drag, gender-bent, and queerified. Monday, March 14 at 3 p.m.
